Friends of Jinny

Artwork for the ‘Friends of Jinny’ exhibition with Jinny Street Gallery, paired with Stefano Pettinelli (2026)

Friends of Jinny pairs 40 international illustrators with 40 locals from Jingumae 2-chome, Shibuya, creating collaborative artworks inspired by stories from our neighborhood. Exhibited at Jinny Street Gallery throughout its streets, the works merge personal narratives with the community’s unique spirit, connecting people across borders.

Part of my inspiration for this work was the calm, peaceful vibe of Jinny. When Stef shared photos of some of his favorite neighborhood spots from the 30 or so years he’s lived in Japan, whether the local park or Hatto Coffee, I could feel that vibe myself even from afar. So I wanted to try to capture that and include Stef in the piece as well, which brought me to the corner of the park that he focused on — a spot of nature and play within the neighborhood buildings.
